Our Vision

page-img9Girl Talk is a mutually beneficial community in which women and girls come together in safe environments to share hope, grace, support, love, and experiences. As a result of being involved in Girl Talk, young women will connect to their purpose for a fulfilling life in whatever field they choose. Teen pregnancy rates will drop in our community as we prepare girls to make healthy choices. Girl Talk will increase the likelihood of educational advancement to prepare girls for their future. Participants will be strong, confident, educated women who are ready to change the world.

Our Core Beliefs

  1. We believe that in our society, girls often feel alone, unworthy, and disadvantaged; but we believe their future can be good.
  2. We believe that a young woman’s worth should not be defined by her circumstance but by her  identity in Jesus Christ.
  3. We believe that girls have the potential to make a difference when their God-given purpose is developed.
  4. We believe that teenage pregnancy can create challenges in reaching her full potential.
  5. We believe that Girl Talk has the responsibility to equip girls with the tools they need to live their best life possible.

Program Outcome Goals

1. To reduce the number of girls who are getting pregnant at an early age

2. To Increase the Likelihood of:

– Educational Advancement to the next grade level
– Graduation from high school
– Enrollment in post-secondary education and/or training

3. To Increase the likelihood of girls becoming career professionals as adults

Our Strategy

“Before I joined Girl Talk I was at a point in my life where nobody mattered.  I thought life was based on having a boyfriend and having kids.  That’s all I wanted.  I really didn’t care about finishing high school.  I was the type that just wanted to fit in.  Nobody could tell me anything.  I always had to have a boyfriend to feel complete and I wanted to fight all the time. Girl Talk has taught me a lot of self-respect, leadership skills, and how to look at the brighter side of life.  I graduated from high school and am in college at Texas Southern University.  Girl Talk has really made a difference in my life.  I have my mind made up to start my own business.  Girl Talk has also taught me to just be myself and that I can do anything I put my mind to.  I do not want to fight anymore and I feel that life is more important than having boyfriends and having babies.  Now I am focused on life and my future.”

“Since Girl Talk has become a part of our lives we have reached so many goals.  But one in particular has stood out from the rest, staying abstinent until marriage.  Not only was this choice personal for the both of us but we now realize how important it is to wait and to reach out to other young girls about being abstinent.  It has helped us become pure and closer to God.  And not only that, our boyfriends respect us more.  Girl Talk has really given us a different aspect on life and has taught us how to become young women in Christ.”

“Before Girl Talk I didn’t think that God could love me.  But on the Retreat He reassured me that everything that happened to me happened for a reason, and one day I will find out why.  Now I know that God loves me even with everything that I have been through.”
